Robert Lee Fox

Robert Lee Fox was born on April 11, 1907, in Fayette, Iowa.
He married Eleanor Bolles Parker on December 27, 1931, in his hometown of Fayette.
Education and Academic Career
Robert graduated from Upper Iowa University in 1928. He continued his studies at Columbia University, earning a Master of Arts degree in 1930 and a Ph.D. in 1934.
From 1934 to 1941, he served as a Professor of Chemistry at Robert College in Istanbul, Turkey, where he was part of an international academic community during a period of global change.
Scientific and Military Service
Following his return to the United States, Robert contributed to the war effort during the Second World War. From 1942 to 1946, he worked with the U.S. Army Chemical Corps and was involved in the Manhattan Project.
After the war, he continued his work as a civilian with the Chemical Corps, remaining in that role until his retirement around 1970.
